Inbound Rail Market Share (IRAILMS)

WHAT IS IT?

The portion of container shipments on railroad that arrived inbound to a particular market during the prior seven days. IRAILMS is broken down between loaded and empty: IRAILMSL and IRAILMSE.

Railroads, railroad shippers, intermodal marketing companies, drayage companies, freight brokerage companies, analysts

WHAT DOES IT TELL ME?

IRAILMS gives the relative importance of a particular geographic regions (e.g., Chicago or Los Angeles) on the inbound railroad containerized trade flows. Graphing IRAILMS over time shows whether inbound container flows from a region are increasing and graphing against ORAILMS shows the net container flows in a particular region.
